The Red Sox are in such a good position these days that they can lose and still inch closer to their first Division Title since 2007. With
Boston's 3-2 loss to Baltimore and Tampa's 7-1 loss to Texas, the
Magic Number dropped to just 3 to clinch the AL East. Tonight's game started promisingly enough, with new lead-off hitter
Dustin Pedroia launching a mammoth HR over everything in left.
The Carmine Hose moved out to a 2-0 lead, but
Ryan Dempster—despite a decent outing—could not hold the lead. The Red Sox continually let a mediocre
Scott Feldman off the hook and paid the price in the end.
Koji Uehara's streak of retiring consecutive batters ended at 37 after an Oriole reached in the 8th. Uehara also took the loss.
