If you
had to pick a
Player Of The Game, Shane Victorino would be it in tonight's
4-2 at SkyDome. But this win—like so many others in this crazy year—was a
team win in the truest sense of the word. Sure, Victorino threw out a key runner at the plate and knocked in two 11th inning runs. But there were also two-out hits earlier by both
Jacoby Ellsbury and
Dustin Pedroia. There were two rally-starting or sustaining hits by a suddenly confident
Will Middlebrooks. And
David Ortiz got two more hits. Maybe most importantly,
Ryan Dempster threw seven superb innings—giving up just one earned run. So, Boston gets their 19th win in their last at-bat and lengthens their lead in the AL East to four full games.
