According to reporting by CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman, Major League Baseball is said to have evidence that Alex Rodriguez bought or used PEDs every year since 2009. This belief by MLB is said to be the basis for their tough negotiating stance with A-Rod—even holding out for a "nuclear option" of a lifetime ban if the player does not agree to a shorter suspension. It's unclear exactly when MLB will announce A-Rod's penalty or those of the other players implicated in the Biogenesis scandal. Heyman wrote: "...word is that MLB has evidence Rodriguez bought or used steroids every year since 2009, the very year he asked baseball fans to 'judge him from this day forward', upon his admission and explanation of the failed '03 test."
