Part of the reason the Red Sox felt comfortable about dealing
Jose Iglesias was the number of elite shortstop prospects in the pipeline. According to
SoxPropsects.com,
the #14 overall prospect in the organization, SS Deven Marrero, has been promoted to AA Portland. With
Xander Bogaerts already in AAA, it makes sense to move Marrero one step further toward Fenway. The 22-year old Marrero has quick hands and similar eye-popping defensive skills as Iglesias. He also faces the same offensive issues as Iglesias.
