The Editors of FenwayNation have named Red Sox closer
Koji Uehara as their
July Player Of The Month. Uehara was 1-0 in the month with a 0.00 ERA in 15.1 innings of work. The newly anointed closer gave up only five hits over that span, walking just one and striking out 21. He limited opponents to a .098 average and sported a WHIP of 0.39. Fans and players alike have come to love the "high-five gauntlet" he runs through the dugout after each successful inning of work. Uehara is the first relief pitcher to receive the FenwayNation award this year. Congratulations Koji!
