Leave it to Bud Selig to screw up an otherwise good idea. The expansion of Instant Reply in baseball is clearly long overdue. We can argue about how far it should go, but the plethora of missed calls in recent years demands a change. Nevertheless, the rumored inclusion of a manager's challenge in the new rules (similar to the NFL) is completely preposterous. No one wants to see Jim Leyland expose his skinny ankles to pull out a little red challenge flag, or wonder about the strategic wisdom of John Farrell deferring a challenge in the first inning because he might need it in the ninth inning. Completely ridiculous!
