The View From EMC Club (FenwayNation Photo) |
Those of you who follow this website know that we are often critical of the Red Sox New Ownership Group (NOG). Truth be told, we have been comfortable with about 80% of what they've done over the last decade plus—we just tend to bark a lot about the remaining 20%. And, when they do something
really good, we feel obligated to give them praise. Last night, Red Sox Season Ticket holders were offered the chance to watch the
84th MLB All-Star Game from the comfort of the
EMC Club at Fenway Park. Not only that, but a gourmet assortment of food and drink was abundantly available—all at no charge (including free parking). Flat screen TVs showed the game—which you could enjoy inside the club in air-conditioned bliss (we are in the midst of a week-long heat wave in Boston) or out in the plushly upholstered outdoor seats overlooking the field. Hundreds of season-ticket holders lined up outside 20 Yawkey Way an hour before entry. This was a great event and an even greater gesture by the NOG. Kudos, guys!
