Your 2013 Boston Red Sox hit .349 on the just completed 8-1 homestand, averaged 5.7 runs per game, and had staff ERA of 3.11. That's a big reason why they enjoy a 4.5 game lead on the Orioles as they head out west for a long road trip. Today, the Carmine Hose pounded out 18 hits and got the first major league win from
Allen Webster on the way to
sweeping the Padres, 8-2. Webster (who came over from the Dodgers in
The Great Punto Deal) went six solid innings, giving up just 5 hits and 2 earned runs. On the offensive side of the ledger, eight Red Sox players had multiple hit games—with
Jaocby Ellsbury going 3 for 4, including his second HR of the year.
Brandon Snyder continued to fill in admirably, getting his first home run in a Red Sox uniform.
Jose Iglesias got two more hits, drove in a run and scored another and is now hitting .411. This team is firing on all cylinders and getting contributions from every player on the roster.
