David Ortiz came off the bench in the 8th inning last night and extended Boston's lead from one to three runs with one swing,
helping beat the Angels, 6-2. The two-run shot was the fifth pinch-hit HR of the DH's career (the first with Boston was
also against the Angels in 2003).
Felix Doubront had yet another good start—albeit with some rough patches—to nail down his fifth win. He went 6 2/3 innings giving up just five hits and two earned runs. The Red Sox took a 3-2 lead after
Josh Hamilton (6 errors on the year) dropped a pop fly off the bat of
Jonny Gomes scoring
Shane Victorino.
Mike Napoli added a solo HR off his old club to cap the scoring in the ninth.
