Three top Red Sox prospects participated in Sunday's All-Star Futures Game, and
two of them had banner days.
Xander Bogaerts—clearly the cream of Boston's prospect crop—went 2 for 3 with a walk; and
Garin Cecchini—hitting .361 at AAA Pawtucket—went 1 for 2 with a double. Unfortunately, Portland hurler
Anthony Ranuado did
not fare as well. Ranaudo gave up two hits, two runs and two walks in just 2/3 of a inning. But it was Bogaerts who showed that he is only a hair's breadth away from
The Show. The SS/3B showed his speed and skill when scoring (with a brilliant fade slide) on a sacrifice fly. Bogaerts clearly has all the tools to be an All-Star on the big league level for a
long time.
