The Red Sox promoted
Xander Bogaerts, their top prospect (and the #8 overall prospect in baseball), to AAA Pawtucket today. The 6'3" Bogaerts was a monster at AA Portland, hitting .311 with 6 HRs and 35 RBIs in just 56 games. The quick progression of the 20-year old shortstop (he becomes the youngest positional player ever for the PawSox) raises all kinds of questions about how Boston handles its current glut of talent at the position. In addition to the now-established
Jose Iglesias, the team also has highly touted
Deven Marrero moving quickly through the system.
