It's hard to tell which of the two debacles was more responsible for
Boston's 9-5 loss this afternoon. Was is the fact that they
stranded 14 runners on base against a crappy starter? Or was it the
three runs that were walked in by Red Sox pitching? Hard to tell really. The result was that a stirring ninth-inning mini-comeback fell way short due to one or both of these phenomenon. The only real bright spot on the day was
Mike Carp's three hits and two RBIs (one of which was a solo hone run).
Daniel Nava also had three hits. Also,
Dustin Pedroia and
Jose Iglesias extended their respective hitting streaks to 11. That's all she wrote, folks. The second half of the twin-bill starts at 7PM.
