FenwayNation saw this coming. Despite our skepticism (and that of many others), your 2013 Carmine Hose are among the elite in Major League Baseball on a
number of fronts. Let's start with
runs scored. Boston leads the majors with 351 tallies—almost 100 more than the Evil Ones (258) and 24 more than their closest rival (the Cardinals at 327). Boston is also third in MLB in
run differential (+78)—behind only St. Louis and Detroit. Amazingly, the Sox have nearly identical
records at home and on the road—20-12
away from
America's Most Beloved Ballpark, 21-14 at home. They have also
won more series (17) than anyone else in the AL. The Red Sox are one of only four teams in all of baseball to
have lost just one extra-inning game—Boston is 4-1 so far in bonus baseball. Overall, the
team is batting .273 (tied for 3rd in the AL). All in all, this team is racking up impressive numbers that are being sustained through a good portion of the season. That's why
most pundits place them #2 in the Power Rankings—right behind the Cardinals. With a little more consistent pitching, there's no reason why they can't seriously contend for the balance of the year.
