Former Red Sox third baseman
Adrian Beltre smote his old team again with a ninth-inning dagger (Editor's note: Can you smite with a dagger?)
sending Boston to a 4-3 defeat and a three-game sweep out of Texas. Last Friday, we stated,
"When we all wake up Monday morning, we will probably know a lot more about the legitimacy of the 2013 Carmine Hose." And, in fact, the Rangers seem to have figured out how to beat the Sox on both sides of the ball. Texas might be the toughest AL team to overcome in 2013. Sunday's game was going alone just fine, with two Boston HRs giving
Jon Lester a 3-0 lead. But the same combination of HRs tied the game off the lefty and the bullpen provided the 'blowage' in the end.
David Ortiz and
David Ross both went yard for the the Red Sox, but
Yu Darvish (and his 14 strikeouts) really told the tale.
