He seemed a lot more subdued than the guy we all remember with the
Bud Light carton on his head. As he came off the field after batting practice last night,
Jonathan Papelbon saw the throngs of Red Sox
and Phillies fans seeking his autograph over by the third base rail. He walked over and spent at least ten minutes signing for every little kid who held out a Sharpie. He seemed at peace with himself—no longer the wild child of 2007's post-season (see pic).
In interviews, he also gave off a more mature vibe. Of his time in Boston, he simply stated,
"I think every time I took the mound here it was fun." That it was, Paps, that is was.
