Safe Through 2019 |
As of today,
Jackie Bradley, Jr. has spent the requisite 20 days in the minor leagues to effectively delay the start of his free agency period until after the 2019 season. Thus—even if they called him up tomorrow—Boston would have control over the 23-year old phenom through this season and six more on top of that. Bradley, Jr. struggled in his first major league stint (an .097 BA in 31 at-bats), and was sent down to AAA Pawtucket. He hit pretty well (.302 with a .400 on-base percentage), but got hurt and went on the DL with 'bicep tendonitis' (or maybe just
McCoy Flu). In any event, he will be back up at Fenway before this campaign is out.
