Otis: Then And Now |
The Red Sox have the dubious distinction of having more
"Nixons" on their all-time roster than any other MLB team. There's
Trot Nixon,
Russ Nixon,
Willard Nixon and outfielder
Otis Nixon. Unfortunately, Otis is back in the news. The former Boston outfielder (who hit .274 in 103 games for the Red Sox in 1994)
was arrested in Georgia and charged with possession of crack cocaine. Not that it matters, but your humble scribe can vividly remember seeing Otis' shiny black Mercedes sports sedan parked in the City Of Palms parking lot in 1994—since no one else would likely have a personalized "OTIS" plate. Anyway, Otis always looked like he was about 25 years older than his natural age—and based on the mugshot—this continues to be true for the 54-year old.
