Your 2013 Edition of the Carmine Hose have made 11 errors in May. Even for those of us who are math-challenged, that works out to more than one error per game this month. Last night, a miscue was the definitive act in the
5-3 loss to Minnesota.
John Lackey, pitching very well to that point, fielded a come-backer with men on first and second and one out in the sixth. He spun to begin a sure double-play and launched the ball past a lunging
Dustin Pedroia into right-center field. The tying run scored and then a sacrifice fly and two-run homer made it 5-2. Game. Set. Match. Sure there were two bad third strike calls in the bottom of the ninth that could have led to a rally, but this squad just looks flat in every aspect of the game right now. They are beginning to look like what everyone thought they would be—and have now lost seven of their last ten. Miraculously, they're tied for first place in the wild and woolly AL East.
