As we all know, it never actually rains at Toronto's
SkyDome (we adamantly refuse to call it by its corporate
'Rogers Centre' pseudonym). But last night, figuratively, it was a cloudburst of April showers that put a damper on an otherwise spectacular month for the Carmine Hose.
Jon Lester looked more like his 2012 vintage—no command and very hittable—as
the last-place Blue Jays humbled the mighty Sox, 9-7. Down 4-0 and 6-3, the Red Sox rumbled back—led by
David Ortiz and his 2-for-5, 4 RBI night, which included his third HR.
Dustin Pedroia and
Jacoby Ellsbury also had multi-hit games—and
Mike Carp went yard for his first Red Sox HR. Lester gave up five earned runs in six innings, in a game that the Sox actually
led 7-6 going into the bottom of the seventh. Bad loss. No biscuit.
