If
Jackie Bradley, Jr. becomes the player we all think he can be, we will be recounting stories of his first week in the bigs. We will make reference to the
Globe's Dan Shaughnessy pointing out that
Bradley was watching Life Of Pi on the plane when John Farrell walked down the aisle to tell him he was starting in left field today. We will talk about how his dad was a bus driver and that he was named after R&B great
Jackie Wilson. We will marvel that he did justice to
Hank Aaron by wearing his #44. For all the excitement, it is also instructive to note
Shane Victorino's admonition to the kid after workouts yesterday afternoon,
"They love you now, but they’ll be [expletive] burying you within a week." Let's hope we love him forever.
