For the first time since 1999, the Boston Red Sox are 2-0 at the start of a season. Tonight, it was another solid starting pitching performance—this time by
Clay Buchholz—that set the tone for the night. But the offense was once again potent—with five players banking multi-hit performances.
Jackie Bradley, Jr. got his first major league hit (an RBI single), and
Jose Iglesias had two more hits and scored a run.
Jacoby Ellsbury knocked in two runs, and
Shane Victorino had a couple of more hits and another RBI (his fourth on the season).
Daniel Nava,
Jarrod Saltalamacchia and
Dustin Pedroia also collected RBIs. The only downer on the night came from (who else?)
Alfred Aceves, who served up a three-run bomb to
Vernon Wells—
making the final 7-4.
Joel Hanrahan pitched a strong ninth for his first American League save. Bring on
The Bronx Embalmers again!
