Jason Collins, who announced yesterday in an SI interview that he is gay, has been invited by the Red Sox to throw out the first pitch at Fenway whenever he wants. Collins, who played briefly for the Boston Celtics earlier this year (before being traded to Washington), is the first male athlete in a major US sport to reveal his homosexuality. The team made the invitation via TWITTER:
"We salute you, @jasoncollins34 for your courage and leadership. Any time you want to throw out a first pitch at Fenway Park, let us know."
