The Boo-Birds at
SkyDome were ultimately silenced tonight, as
John Farrell's legions outlasted Toronto 6-4. The home run power outage was also silenced as
Mike Napoli and
Will Middlebrooks went yard to account for three of the six runs.
Felix Doubront was typically inconsistent, throwing way too many pitches in just five innings and failing to hold onto a 4-1 advantage. After
Jose Iglesias was hit on the throwing elbow and left the game,
Pedro Ciriaco delivered two hits in his place—one knocking in a key run. It's unclear how injured Iglesias is (he actually made a spectacular play in the field after getting hit). Word is, though, that
Stephen Drew was on his way to Toronto tonight from Portland. Once again, the bullpen was superb—except for one mistake by
Junichi Tazawa.
Koji Uehara was brilliant in snuffing out a threat in the sixth. So, the Sox are now 3-1 on the young campaign and give the ball to
John Lackey tomorrow.
