Red Sox Celebrate Sixty Years With Jimmy Fund
While yesterday's 3-1 victory over the Orioles was nice, it wasn't even close to the most important event at Fenway Park on Opening Day. Before the game, the team celebrated one of the most unique partnerships is sports history: the 60-year working relationship between the Red Sox and the Jimmy Fund. Patients, current and former players and representatives of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute participated in a moving tribute to all that's been achieved over the last six decades. Former Jimmy Fund Chairman and Red Sox second baseman Mike Andrews put it this way, "As I’ve said, playing 13 years of professional baseball, two World Series, an All-Star Game, and being part of the ’67 Red Sox, it doesn’t really compare to the 31 years I spent at Dana-Farber and with the Jimmy Fund." FenwayNation has been privileged to participate in numerous Jimmy Fund events over the years, and urge all of our readers around the world to support this amazing organization by clicking HERE.
