Despite a disappointing loss in the rubber match at
The Concrete Bunker On 161st Street, new backstop
David Ross had one heck of a debut. Ross threw out
both attempted Empire base-stealers—including the speedy
Brett Gardner (see pic). Ross also contributed a single and almost tied the game with a long blast to center field that died in a Bronx gale. All in all, a promising opener for the 36-year old—who is slated to start a
lot more games than the typical "back-up".
