Neil Diamond—who appeared at Fenway Park on Saturday to sing
'Sweet Caroline'—is
donating this week's dramatically increased sales of the song to marathon bombing victims. Recent sales of the 8th-inning Fenway Park anthem have shot up by 597% since Diamond's appearance. Diamond flew all night to Boston after the second terrorist was captured last Friday, and approached the Red Sox on his own about signing on Saturday. Said Diamond,
"I was humbled and honored to be in Boston and to be able to personally thank and express my gratitude to the first responders and law enforcement officers." A special gesture by a special man.
