Middlebrooks Played Opener With 102 Fever
In all of the excitement of the Red Sox 8-2 Opening Day win over the Evil Ones, you probably didn't notice that third baseman Will Middlebrooks went 0-4. After the game, it was learned that the second-year player was out there with flu-like symptoms and a 102-degree temperature. But, as he stated, “I wasn’t going to miss this for the world.” Middlebrooks is eager to get 2012 completely behind him, “I really don’t think the offseason could be over soon enough, just to start with a clean slate. I actually don’t think our slate is really clean. We have a lot to make up for, a reputation to get back.”
