Will Middlebrooks hit three home runs, and came within five feet of hitting four,
in a 13-0 rout of the Blue Jays at SkyDome. All together, the Red Sox hit six home runs—more than enough for
Jon Lester's masterful seven-inning shutout performance. Lester scattered five singles, struck out six and walked none. Middlebrooks hit two of his bombs off of NL Cy Young Winner
R.A. Dickey, and would have become the only Red Sox player in history to hit four dingers in a game.
Jacoby Ellsbury,
Daniel Nava and
Mike Napoli also went yard. The Red Sox now head to Fenway for their home opener on Monday against the Orioles with a 4-2 record.
