Hopefully, years from now, we will be talking about how we saw
Jackie Bradley, Jr.'s first hit—an RBI single to center field against the Evil Ones—as we reflect back on his stellar Red Sox career. After the game,
the hallowed ball appeared in the locker of the young phenom, who hadn't noticed it until a reporter pointed it out. Said the 22-year old,
“There it is. I didn’t even know. It snuck up there.” Kind of like he has "snuck up" on The Nation. After only a couple of games, can you imagine this team without him now? Bradley reflected on the significance of the hit thusly,
“It’s a big thrill. You always want to get the first one out of the way. I’m glad I did it. It was a big opportunity right there and I got an RBI out of it, too. It was pretty sweet.” Sweet indeed.
