Brennan Boesch |
The Detroit Tigers released OF Brennan Boesch and the Red Sox just might snap him up when he clears waivers. The Red Sox—aside from
Jacoby Ellsbury—have a mixed bag of platoon-type outfielders in camp and Boesch might actually be an upgrade over some who got big contracts from the team. Boesch, who turns 28 in less than a month, has a .259 average over three MLB seasons. He's hit 42 HRs over that span and has 175 career RBIs. His OBP, OPS and slugging numbers are underwhelming, but his upside is probably superior to some other options—like
Daniel Nava,
Ryan Sweeney,
Mitch Maier, and
Mike Carp.
Not, however, a better option than
Jackie Bradley, Jr.
