Staying Retired |
According to John Tomase of the
Boston Herald, Red Sox catcher
David Ross resisted the temptation to engage in a prank with ex-teammate
Chipper Jones. Apparently,
the future Hall-of-Famer asked Ross to float a TWITTER rumor that he would come out of retirement to play for Boston. Ross thought better of the idea. Said the backstop,
“I came in thinking I'd help him out, but then I realized it probably wasn't a good idea. It's funny to Chipper, but all of a sudden if my name's attached to it, I might have to answer to our front office. I think I'd be in the manager's office pretty fast.” Jones has been fending off even sillier
actual rumors that he'd be donning the laundry of the
Pinstriped Posers.
