As the
Boston Harald's Michael Silverman points out,
injuries to left-handed relievers Craig Breslow (shoulder) and Franklin Morlaes (unclear, but limited to flat-ground throwing) are reducing the options from the 'port-side'.
Andrew Miller and
Chris Hernandez are the only other lefties in camp, and Opening Day could see both of them at John Farrell's disposal. This just reaffirms the old adage: you can't have enough pitching—
especially from the left side. All of a sudden the Boston bullpen—which was touted as a key strength of the team—may be starting to show signs of vulnerability.
