According to
WEEI.com's Rob Bradford,
the Red Sox have not offered a contract extension to starter Jon Lester. The lefty's contract is in its final guaranteed year—with a club option for 2014. Lester had an uncharacteristically poor 2012 season—after winning at least 15 games in each of the previous four years. His 4.82 ERA was the highest of his career. Some might argue that the team should
not make an extension offer until they are certain that he has regained his earlier form.
