Former Red Sox infielder
Jed Lowrie was traded from the AL West Houston Astros to the AL West Oakland A's. Lowrie and pitcher
Fernando Rodriguez were sent to the Bay Area for first-baseman
Chris Carter, pitcher
Brad Peacock and catcher
Max Stassi. In his four years with Boston, Lowrie hit .252 with 19 HRs and 117 RBIs. He was continually plagued by injuries and never played more than 88 games in a season for the Red Sox. He will mostly play second base for the A's, and also fill-in around the infield.
