According to a report by WEEI.com's Rob Bradford,
the Red Sox are actually showing interest in Casey Kotchman and —are you ready?—Lyle Overbay to man first base in 2013. Maybe the report by the
Boston Dust Mites that
the Sox were considering 84-year old Dick Gernert at first wasn't all that far off. Why
Mike Morse isn't being aggressively pursued (and for that matter why
Adam Laroche wasn't signed) is still an off-season mystery.
