Propelled by a late surge of optimism, a plurality of voters in our latest
FenwayNation Poll now see
the 2013 Carmine Hose finishing in second place in the AL East. As the chart shows, almost one-third of all voters (29%) think the Red Sox will take that second slot. Close behind, 27% believe Boston will end up in third place, while just over one voter in five (21%) figures on a fourth place finish. About equal shares of voters think the Sox will finish first (11%) or last (12%). Interestingly, this means
four in ten readers (11% plus 29%)
think Boston will
either win the division or finish high enough
(in second place) to merit a good shot at one of two Wild Cards.
