Former Red Sox pitcher
Vicente Padilla has reportedly signed a one-year, $3.25 million deal with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of the Japanese Central League. Padilla was hot and cold for Boston in 2012—ending with a 4.50 ERA in 50 innings of work. Always a bit of a loose canon, it will be interesting to see how his antics play in Japan. Padilla is 108-91 over 14 major league seasons. He has a career ERA of 4.32 and a WHIP of 1.377.
