The Nation is breathing a sigh of relief after word that
Dustin Pedroia will
not be participating in the inappropriately-named
World Baseball Classic. Pedroia is recovering from multiple finger injuries, and would have been risking too much by participating in the sham tournament.
Shane Victorino, on the other hand,
will play for Team USA. Pedroia played in the 2009 WBC, straining an oblique muscle in pre-game warm-ups.
