Hilderbrand-US PRESSWIRE |
According to a report by Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Red Sox are one of the teams that has already spoken to the Washington Nationals about a trade that would bring Michael Morse to Boston to play first base. This, of course, would also allow the team to end the Mike 'What Is Hip?' Napoli fiasco. While Boston was mentioned early on as a suitor for Morse, other reports suggested they were not a serious player. The 30-year old Morse is under contract for 2013 for just $7 million—and then becomes a free agent in 2014. Desperation may be setting in on Yawkey Way, as the team has no first baseman with just over 24 days before the equipment truck packs up and leaves for Fort Myers.
