Multiple reports indicate that
the Red Sox signed 37-year old relief pitcher Koji Uehara to a one-year deal. Uehara was spectacular for the Rangers last year, with a 1.75 ERA in 36 innings of work. His WHIP was an astounding 0.639. He walked just 3 and struck out 43. The righty missed a month of the season to injury. Used primarily as a set-up man in his American baseball career, Uehara joins a strong Boston bullpen that was virtually the only bright light in 2012. The deal is worth
$4.25 million.
