Multiple reports now suggest that
the Red Sox have signed free-agent right-handed starter Ryan Dempster to a two-year, $26.5 million contract. Dempster is primarily an innings-eater at this stage of his career, and will likely slot in behind
Clay Buchholz and
Jon Lester in the Boston rotation. Dempster had sought a three-year pact, and earlier had rejected a Red Sox offer for two years and $25 million. Finalization of the deal is pending a physical.
