Texas-Bound? |
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com,
the Texas Rangers have a serious interest in signing David Ortiz should he and the Red Sox fail to reach agreement on a new contract by midnight tonight. Reportedly, Boston and their long-time DH have agreed on the
term of a new contract (two years), but are hung up on the money. Ortiz reportedly wants between $25 and $30 million in a two-year pact. The Rangers will sorely need a big bat in their lineup if—as expected—they part company with
Josh Hamilton. WEEI.com's Rob Bradford is also reporting that
it is not likely that an accord will be reached by midnight tonight—paving the way for any other team to snare Ortiz.
