According to a report by the
Globe's Nick Cafardo,
the Red Sox are considering a potential reunion with Jason Bay. The Mets cut Bay loose from the final year of his 4-year contract, and he is now a free agent—with a ton of cash that the Mets
also gave him.
Given that, he might be worth a gamble on a cheap, minor league deal. Don't forget, just three short seasons ago (2009), Bay clouted 36 home runs for the Red Sox and drove in 119. Since then, in a grand total of 288 games for the Metropolitans, he has just 26 home runs. Caveat emptor!
