Gomes After Winning AL West |
According the Susan Slusser of the
San Francisco Chronicle,
new Red Sox outfielder Jonny Gomes was the inspiration for the A's donating a full playoff share to a Bay Area charity. Gomes—recently awarded the "Good Guy" award by the San Francisco chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America—is known for his good works off the field wherever he has played. It's always a good thing to bring players to town that exhibit this type of dedication to the community. Good going, Jonny!
