Geez, you'd think the Red Sox needed some re-modeling work in the bullpen with all the 'Carpenters' they keep landing in compensation deals. Yet another pitcher named Carpenter is coming our way (added to the
wrong Chris Carpenter who came in the Theo deal).
This one—
David Carpenter—is about as forgettable as you can get. He was about to be dumped off the Blue Jays' 40-man roster anyway—and would soon have been available to
any team for $20,000. Carpenter was part of the big July trade with Houston that brought
J.A. Happ and
Brandon Lyon to Canada. In his career, t
he 27-year old right-hander has an underwhelming 5.70 ERA in a grand total of 67 games. Last year for Toronto, he pitched 2 2/3 innings and delivered a whopping 30.38 ERA. Can't wait for his arrival in Fort Myers!
