Future Sox Star Bogaerts |
It doesn't get much more dismal for Red Sox fans than right now. We were just treated to the worst season since 1965 (when 20-year-old Tony C. led the team with 32 HRs and manager Billy Herman "led" the team to 100 losses). But, take heart, Red Sox fans—
there are three "Killer Bs" down on the farm that will soon resuscitate your lust for the post-season. They are SS/3B
Xander Bogaerts, CF
Jackie Bradley, Jr., and RHP
Matt Barnes. Barnes struck out 133 this year, while compiling a 2.86 ERA at multiple minor league levels. Bradley had a ridiculous on-base percentage of .480 in 67 games at Salem (A), although he dipped some in the second half at Portland (AA). Still, he's eyed as a possible replacement should Jacoby Ellsbury "Boras" the Red Sox. Finally, Bogaerts hit .307 with 20 HRs at Single and Double A. The 2012 Carolina League All-Star is now ranked as the 31st best prospect in all of baseball. And you know if he makes it, his nickname will be "Bogie". So, in the not-too-distant future, these three 'Killer Bs' will be roaming Fenway and helping to restore some respectability to the Olde Towne Team.
