Ken Coleman Among 10 Frick Award Finalists

Coleman (L) With Yaz
The late Ken Coleman, legendary Red Sox broadcaster, is among ten finalists for the 2013 Ford C. Frick Award. The National Baseball Hall of Fame made the announcement yesterday. The award has been given out every year since 1978 to baseball broadcasters deemed as performing "excellent service" announcing Major League Baseball games. Those of us who grew up listening to Coleman's mellifluous tones sincerely hope that he picks up this honor. We will never forget his vivid description of Yaz's amazing catch at Yankee Stadium in 1967: "He dives and makes a tremendous catch!" Good luck, Ken.
