Ex-Sox Indicted On Drug Charges In Puerto Rico

Former Sox 2B Angel Santos
Angel Santos, a second-baseman who had a 9-game cup of coffee with the Red Sox in 2001, has been indicted on drug charges in Puerto Rico. The U.S. Attorney's Office alleges that Santos—who goes by the full name of Angel Santos Berrios—was the "second in command" of a drug organization trafficking in crack, heroin, cocaine and prescription pills. Authorities charge that the drug ring has been operating—sometimes delivering by taxi—since 2000. This would overlap with Santos' tenure with the Red Sox organization.
