Wacky Times At The Old Ballyard; Sox Lose, 5-4

Jarrod Saltalamacchia was a single short of the cycle. Cody Ross was tossed after he did his best impersonation of the Tazmanian Devil when called out on strikes. Before Bobby Valentine was also thrown out of the game, he was chewed out by Alfredo Aceves for taking him out after another horrendous outing. Derek Jeter left the game with a bruised ankle and Dustin Pedroia left the game with an expectant wife. The score? Oh yeah, 5-4 Yankees. The Red Sox squandered multiple opportunities to extend the game—most notably leaving Salty on third after a lead-off triple. Aaron Cook was again pedestrian in the loss, coughing up two home runs on his rising sinker. In fact, the Evil Ones scored all of their runs by way of the round-tripper. The one bright spot was the news from Baltimore—the Orioles walked off with a 3-2 win to keep them in a first place tie.
