The
Red Sox placed right-handed relievers Daniel Bard, Mark Melancon and Clayton Mortensen on revocable waivers today. If no teams claim the pitchers, Boston can trade them to any team. If they are claimed, the Red Sox have three options: let them go to a claiming team, work out a trade with a claiming team, or pull them back onto the roster. All three players were considered to be integral parts of the team's pitching landscape at the start of the season.
